Young Stamford Football Players Invited to Train

STAMFORD, Conn. – There will be a pre-season training program for football players at Stamford High School beginning July 9.

The program for players ages 7-13 will focus on speed and agility, and will be from 6:30-8 p,m, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays through Aug. 9. The cost for the program is $150.

Gametime Advantage, a premier training organization with decades of experience in football and the drills that make young athletes successful, hosts the program. The group is headed by former Stamford High School running back Shawn Foster, who later played football at Central Connecticut State University. He currently is the head coach for the Stamford Youth Foundation Wolverines.

Foster developed drills with the support of former Stamford High School football coach Kevin Jones. Foster and Jones were teammates at Central, and they have developed techniques that improve flexibility, strength and endurance. The football skills will include blocking and tackling techniques in a non-contact environment.

The training also includes work with Westhill High track coach Todd Page, who will expose players to proper technique to reach maximum speed on the field.

The program is not affiliated with Stamford Youth Foundation. Players interested in learning more can visit Gametime Advantage on the web.
