STAMFORD, Conn. -- Registration is underway for the The Navigators Stamford KIC IT two-day race weekend.
It includes the Kids Triathlon Saturday, June 11 and the Olympic and Sprint Triathlons and 5K and 10 K road races Sunday, June 12.
The race weekend raise awareness and funds for Kids in Crisis, a free emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis counseling resource for Fairfield County children and families.
Register is done online at www.kicittriathlon.com.
Sprint and Oympic triathletes who raise funds will receive a discounted registration fee of $20 or $40, and enter free if they raise $750 or more.
The 5K and 10K runners who raise $250 or more also earn free entry, and kid triathletes only need to raise $150 to race for free.
The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon will be held at Cove Beach in Stamford.
Children ages 6 to 13 may participate in the following:
- Ages 6-7: 50-meter swim, 0.8-mile bike, half-mile run.
- 8-10: 50-meter swim, 2.5 mile bike course, half-mile run.
- 11-13: 150-meter swim, 4-mile bike, 1-mile run.
The Olympic Triathlon is a .9-mile swim at Cummings Beach in Long Island Sound, a 24.8-mile bike ride through downtown and north Stamford, and fast 6.2 mile run.
The Sprint Triathlon will be run as a separate race, and will be contested on portions of the Olympic course.
Both beginners and experienced triathletes may enter the Sprint’s 0.5-mile swim, 13.9-mile bike, 3.2-mile run.
The Olympic and Sprint races are USA Triathlon-certified and can be run by individuals doing all three legs of the race, or as a relay team with each member performing one or two legs.
The 5K and 10K runs are options for beginner and competitive runners and held on the same day as the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon.
