STAMFORD, Conn. -- Eight youth basketball teams from the New York tri-state area and Boston are competing this weekend in the second annual In the Name of Peace tournament in Stamford.
Hosted by the Stamford Peace Basketball Club, the invitational tournament features 14U/8th-grade AAU boys basketball teams on the courts at Westhill High School, 125 Roxbury Road, Stamford.
Tournament play features nationally ranked teams Long Island Lightning and Boston's Mass Commanders. In addition, there will be teams from other top regional programs, including Stamford Peace, Castle Athletics, Riverside Hawks, Metro Mavericks, and Middletown’s Finest.
The action starts at 10 a.m. Saturday with a full slate of 12 games through 6 p.m. On Sunday, the playoff rounds start at 10 a.m., with the championship games set at 2 p.m.
The Stamford Peace game times on Saturday are: 10 a.m., 12:40 p.m., and 3:20 p.m. All games will be played at the high school, and are open to the public.
Tickets are $10 per day and $15 for the full weekend. More details and the full tournament schedule can be found at the club's website.
Last year, the inaugural tournament saw high-level competition from nationally ranked teams, the PSA Cardinals and the Boston Bobcats, organizers said.
