Cummings 2nd at Public Links golf

Daria Cummings, who plays out of Sterling Farms Golf Course in Stamford, finished second in the WMGA/MGA Women's Public Links championship Thursday at Hudson Hills Golf Course in Ossining, N.Y. Cummings, the two-time defending champion, was four strokes behind the winner, 14-year-old Nicole Morales.

The teenager finished with a three-under-par 68. Morales, the 2009 Westchester Golf Association Girls Player of the Year, made two birdies on the front nine for a two-under 33. Cummings, who was looking to become the event's first three-time champion, made the turn at even-par with three bogeys to match her three birdies. However, it was Morales who solidified her dominant play and left nothing up to chance with a one-under 35 on the back nine en route to a four-stroke victory. Morales birdied three of the five par-three holes to go with her one bogey at the 10th hole.

Longshore's Jo Rasmussen finished 12th with an 87. Susan Teasley of Sterling Farms finished 15th with a 92.
