STAMFORD, Conn. -- Academy of Information Technology & Engineering senior Charles Collins' original artwork is part of the current University of Connecticut Stamford Art Gallery's 2016 Black History Month display, "Black Cartoonists, Comic Book Character Creators, and Artists."
Under the pen name “Chaz Daviscz,” Collins is the creator of the "Lil' Denny" cartoon characters, and is a two-time winner of the Stamford Ferguson Library Art Competition.
He has also been selected to participate in the Arts and Crafts on Bedford Fair in Stamford for the past two years.
In addition to Collins, the UConn exhibit also features the work of several nationally recognized cartoonists, including Ray Billingsley (“Curtis”), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey”) and Barbara Brandon-Croft (“Where I’m Coming From”).
The show is free and runs until March 5. On the final day, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to meet some of the artists.
