A resident of Pembroke Road in Darien reported to police on Thursday, Aug. 15 that a day prior, an Amazon delivery had been stolen from her front porch.

Police said that the woman stated she was inside her home when she heard a vehicle pull into her driveway. When she looked outside, the homeowner saw a heavyset, African American woman on her front porch holding an Amazon package.

Assuming that she was making the delivery, the homeowner didn’t think anything was awry, police said. A few minutes later, when she went to retrieve the package, which had various items with a value of $109, it was gone.

According to police, a check of the carrier showed that the package had been delivered earlier. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact police investigators at the Darien Police Department by calling (203) 662-5300.
