Suspicious Backpack Tops North Castle Police Blotter

NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- North Castle police had a busy weekend, starting with a suspicious package the morning of Saturday, Dec. 5.

Mount Pleasant police reported that they received a tip via the hotline about 10:20 a.m. saying there was a suspicious backpack that had been left on the right side of the Kensico Dam staircase. The Kensico Dam Response plan was activated, which includes the North Castle police. 

However, the Mount Pleasant police included in their call that the caller stated that the bag may belong to a jogger using Westlake Drive and/or the stairs. 

Shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, a concerned citizen contacted North Castle police to report a suspicious person on North Broadway.The caller said that "there is a male Hispanic, reportedly giving away propane cylinders" in a parking lot. A police officer responded to the call. It is unclear if there was any police action taken. 

On Tuesday just after 9 a.m., three police officers responded to a call on North Broadway after a woman contacted police saying that her son was destroying her apartment. While on the phone with the caller, police reported that there were loud banging noises in the background. It is unclear if there was any action taken when police arrived.
