Suspect Charged In Stabbing After Fight Breaks Out Overnight In Bridgeport

A suspect has been charged in an overnight stabbing that happened after a fire broke out in Bridgeport, authorities said.

The incident happened shortly being 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 on the 1000th block of Park Avenue in Bridgeport.

After arriving at the scene, officers observed two parties fighting in the street, said Scott Appleby, the director of the Office of Emergency Management & Communications for the City of Bridgeport.

One of those parties had sustained a non-life threatening stab wound to the upper leg, was hospitalized, and later released, Appleby said.

Following an investigation, Rhonel M. Russell was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Bond amount has been set at $50,000.
