A suspect has been charged in connection to the homicide earlier this week of a 39-year-old Stamford man.

Michael A. James, Sr., age 53, of Baxter Avenue, in Stamford, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 27 for the murder of Torrick Johnson, who was shot several times on the night of Wednesday, Sept. 25. Johnson died as a result of his injuries.

James shot Johnson three times, with two of which were at close range, Stamford Police said. He is being held on a $350,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Oct. 11. He is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault as well as unlawful discharge of a firearm. He was taken into custody Friday afternoon by Stamford Police Uniform Patrol Units.

"The Stamford Police Department hopes this arrest helps to give the victim’s family some semblance of justice in this case," Stamford PD Lt. Michael A. Noto said. "We are proud of the actions of our uniform patrol division in how they handled the initial call for service, the Bureau of Criminal Investigations for bringing this case to such a quick resolution and thankful to the State’s Attorney’s Office for all their assistance."
