STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man from Yonkers, N.Y., sang Irish folk songs during breaks from loud, destructive behavior at a Stamford hotel Saturday night, Police said.
Paul Gray, 28, of 123 Locust St., was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, interfering with an officer and third-degree assault.
Officers were called to the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa at 243 Tresser Blvd. after reports of loutish, drunken behavior, police said.
Guests in three rooms on the same floor were so angered by the man's behavior that they called the front desk to complain and to ask for compensation, Sgt. Kelly Connelly said.
"He got a whole floor of people enraged at him," she said.
Gray smashed a closet door worth about $400 and a glass table top worth about $200, Connelly said.
His behavior was up and down throughout the evening, Connelly said.
"He would be agitated and try to fight everybody, then he would stop and sing Irish folk songs, and then he would get amped up and try to fight everyone," Connelly said.
His court date was unavailable.
