Quantel Brown, 24, whose residence is listed as 72 Richmond Hill Ave. but who police said was living at 50 Courtland Ave., Apt. 3, was charged with four counts of sale of illegal drugs, and one count each of possession of narcotics, sale of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"Those sales took place in April and May. He was selling quantities of crack cocaine to an undercover officer," said Capt. Richard Conklin.

The amounts came to $50 to $100 worth of crack cocaine per sale, Conklin said.

Police received arrest and search warrants and set up another drug deal with him for Wednesday afternoon in order to make the arrest. Officers arrived at 50 Courtland Ave. to execute the plan, police said.

"He appeared to be nervous and appeared to put something in his mouth," Conklin said of Brown's behavior during the sale. He initially refused to open his mouth but eventually relented, but had apparently swallowed the item in his mouth, police said.

A search of his Courtland Avenue residence turned up a scale and 2.8 grams of crack cocaine, police said.

Brown was held on $30,000 bond.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on July 23 in state Superior Court.
