STAMFORD, Conn. -- Police arrested a 19-year-old Stamford man on strangulation charges after he fought with his girlfriend Friday at her home in Glenbrook, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Police said the 19-year-old woman told officers that she and her boyfriend, Elijah Johnson, 19, of Newfield Avenue, were arguing about text messages he had received, the Advocate said.
He put his hands tightly around her neck and cut off her ability to breathe as they fought over the phone, police told the Advocate.
The two continued to fight, and he hung up the phone and she called 911, the Advocate reported.
Johnson was charged with strangulation, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, interfering with police and interfering with an emergency call, the Advocate said.
