Anthony Bussey, 34, of Bloomfield, was arrested around 3:15 p.m., Sunday, June 2, at the Stop & Shop by Stamford Police, said Bloomfield Police Capt. Stephen Hajdasz.

Hajdasz said Bussey was charged with larceny after allegedly being caught concealing items in Stop & Shop and store loss prevention notified Stamford Police of an active shoplifting incident. Stamford Police were able to arrive on the scene and make the arrest without incident.

Once in police custody, Bussey refused to be fingerprinted, but eventually, Stamford was able to identify Busse.

During the booking process, Stamford discovered that Bussey had an active arrest warrant held by the Bloomfield Police Department for assault on an elderly person and notified Bloomfield Police, Hajdasz said.

Bloomfield detectives transported Bussey back to the Bloomfield Police Department for processing and held him on a $500,000 bond in connection with a fight with his 60-year-old father on May 12. His father suffered traumatic injuries and later died, police said.

Charges are expected to be upgraded.
