Man Tried To Get Medication With Fake Prescription In Greenwich, Police Say

A 20-year-old man was nabbed attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription after the pharmacist became suspicious and called the police.

Luis Caballero, of Brooklyn, was arrested by Greenwich Police on Tuesday, March 5, when he returned to pick up the prescription, Greenwich Police said.

The incident began when police received a report from a local pharmacy that they had received what they believed to be a fraudulent prescription order. Police conducted an investigation and determined that the doctor listed on the prescription had prescribed the medication, police said.

At around 6 p.m., Caballero, appeared at the pharmacy and attempted to acquire the medication and was arrested. During the arrest, police also found that Caballero was using a fake ID. 

He was charged with attempt to obtain a controlled drug by fraud, criminal attempt/illegal possession, conspiracy to commit/illegal possession, identity theft, criminal impersonation, and forgery. 

He is being held on $100,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on March 12.
