Man Pleads Guilty To Posing As A Doctor In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — A man pleaded guilty Friday to performing plastic surgery without a medical license in New York and Stamford, according to a statement from New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman.

Carlos Arango admitted practicing medicine without a license and performing liposuction and other invasive measures, the release said. OnShape Medical Spa in Stamford was one of the places where he practiced, the statement said.

Marlon Castillo, a licensed physician, has been charged with reporting that he performed the surgeries done by Arango, the statement said. The case against him is still pending.

Arango pleaded guilty to unlicensed practice of a profession and will be sentenced to six months in prison followed by five years of probation. He must also pay $8,700 in restitution, the statement said.

A third co-defendant, William Ordonez, remains at large, the statement said.
