STAMFORD, Conn. -- A homeless man was accused of attempting to steal a cell phone from his girlfriend in a city motel on New Year’s Eve, police said.
Police went to America’s Best Value Inn early Sunday morning after receiving a call from a woman who reported that Thomas Golterman allegedly choked her then tried to take her phone, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky told the Stamford Advocate.
The man reportedly asked the woman, 38 and homeless, to come to the motel Saturday, Shawinsky said in the report.
The two argued after midnight when Golterman allegedly was drunk, according to the Stamford Advocate.
The accused was found later by police at a doughnut shop and arrested, then posted bond, said the newspaper.
