Man Accused Of Stabbing Victim With Scissors In Area, Police Say

A 31-year-old man was charged with assault after stabbing a man with a pair of scissors then choking him to the point of unconsciousness, according to state police.

Troopers responded to the incident in Dutchess County on Scarborough Lane in Wappinger at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. 

According to a police investigation, Michael Valentin, of Wappinger, used a pair of scissors to stab an individual who walked away from a verbal argument with him before Valentin choked that individual. 

The victim was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Valentin was charged with the felonies of: 
  • second-degree assault, 
  • third-degree criminal possession of a weapon,
  • second-degree strangulation. 

He was released on a $5,000, and will return to the Town of Wappinger Court next month for sentencing.
