The men, 38-year-old Charles Dimples Barnes, of Bloomfield, in Hartford County, and Fairfield County resident Norman Charles Peters, age 40, of Stamford, were found around 1:55 a.m., Sunday, May 16, in Bridgeport, said Bridgeport PD Captain Kevin Gilleran.

The men were found in the basement of the club on Main Street after Bridgeport Police responded to a report of shots fired and found Barnes in the basement at the club, Gilleran said.

Barnes had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, Gilleran said.

Officers also located Peters in the basement.

When officers arrived, Peters was still alive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Gilleran noted.

He was quickly transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital but later died, Gilleran said.

"The Bridgeport Police Department offers its sincerest condolences to family and friends of both victims," Gilleran said.

During the time of the incident, an illegal after-hours club was being run in the basement of 1023 Main St., he added.
