STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford police acting on a tip managed to take down a suspected crack dealer after finding his stash in a potato chip bag on the sidewalk, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Tyronne Powell, 41, of Bridgeport, was accused of selling crack on Main Street in front of Stamford Manor after officers spotted him sitting in his car, picked up a potato chip bag sitting about eight feet away with some other trash on the sidewalk and found 4.2 grams of crack cocaine inside, said the Stamford Advocate.
According to police, Powell, who is on probation for a 2015 drug possession conviction and faces a three-year jail term for violating his probation, would sit in his car making deals, but keep the drugs in the bag outside his car, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Following his arrest, Powell was charged with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school or public housing complex. He is being held on $1,000 bond, police said, according to the Stamford Advocate.
