STAMFORD, Conn. -- Mark Portanova, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Thursday, May 28. He was 62.
He was born to Sophie (Kossluk) and Michael A. Portanova in Stamford.
Portanova was an avid gardener, whose vegetables were coveted by his entire family. He was a doting grandfather and loved his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Lao) Portanova; his son, Mark; his stepchildren, Christine and Rommel; and his grandson, Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael, Jeffrey, Gina, Alan and Craig.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. A luncheon will follow.
Family will greet friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. before the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Stamford Animal Shelter.
