STAMFORD, Conn. – Mark L. Auriana, of Stamford, died Saturday, March 5 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York. He was 81.
He was born in New York City on Sept. 6, 1938, to the late Frank J. and Jean Spina Auriana. He was a proud graduate of Regis High School in New York City, Manhattan College and earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from CUNY. He was a private pilot, a lifelong car enthusiast and a vintage car racer. He was also a member of many clubs and organizations, including the AOPA, VSCCA and NSRA. His career included serving as vice president of Burndy Corporation and president of FAI.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Kelly Auriana, of Stamford; his son, Mark Francis Auriana of Stamford; his daughter, Catherine A. Auriana and her fiancé, David Cadigan, of Stamford; his brother, Lawrence Auriana and his wife, Irene, of Scarsdale, New York; and his niece, Christina Auriana of New York City.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, A funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:20 a.m. and proceed to St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at a cemetery to be announced.
