Margaret DiDonato, 90, Stamford Native

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Margaret (Margie) DiDonato, a Stamford native, died Oct. 22 after a brief illness. She was 90. 

DiDonato was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Stamford, to the late Vito and Rosemarie (Gerardi) Longo. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Joseph DiDonato and brothers, Frank, Gerald, Walter, Joseph and William Longo.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Howard Dufine, Annette and Ricky Velanzon; sons, Santo and Lisa DiDonato, Anthony DiDonato, and Peter DiDonato; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer Dufine, Jennifer and Joseph Desmond, Ricky Velanzon, Christine and Jacob Cummings, Angela and Joseph Colabella, Jaclyn DiDonato, Jainee DiDonato, and Peter John DiDonato; six great-grandchildren, Allyson, Diane, Lucas, Valerie, Katelyn, and Bianca; and many other friends and family. 

DiDonato worked in the Stamford Public School system for more than 30 years.

Calling hours will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.
