M. Concetta 'Connie' White, 95, Longtime Stamford Resident

STANFORD, Conn. -- M. Concetta (Connie) White, a longtime Stamford resident, died on Sunday, March 27. She was 95.

Born in Italy, White immigrated with her family to the United States in her first year. She and her husband owned White's Delicatessen, in Waterside, for many years. After his death, she worked for US Marine Lines, Bartlett Tree Experts and the Stamford Advocate until she retired.

White was active in the Stamford community. She started a chapter of Widow and Widowers. She was also president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years, and an active member of the Stamford Over 60 club. She was an avid crocheter of afghans and a competitive bingo player.

She is survived by her children, Nora of Milford and Bill White of Stamford; grandchildren Michael Sabia and Joseph Sabia; great-grandchildren Finn and Mallory Sabia; and siblings Joseph and Carmela from Port Chester.

White was predeceased by her husband, William "Buck" White; parents Pietrioantonio and Vita Creszenia Esposito Cammarota; and siblings John, Daniel and Josephine.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., in Stamford. A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., in Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, in Darien.
