John Wilson, 65, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- John Wilson, 65, affectionately known as "Bunchy" and "Buttermilk" died peacefully Saturday, July 11, 2015.

He was born Feb. 3, 1950 in South Carolina , the son of Janie Duffie Wilson and the late John David Wilson.

He was a high school star basketball player and graduated from Rippowam High School. He also obtained both his bachelors and masters degrees from Southern New Hampshire College.

In addition to his mother Janie Duffie Wilson, he leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter; Sabra Wilson, one brother; Willie Wilson, two sisters; Annie Owens (Troy) and Dora Fulton (William) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place from 9-10 a.m. Saturday followed by a service of celebration at 10 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 150 Fairfield Ave., Stamford with the Rev. LeRoy Ladson Jr. officiating.

Interment will be private.

Services entrusted to Downer Funeral Home.
