STAMFORD, Conn. – Jocelyn G. "Joy" Hartman, formerly of Stamford, died Sunday, March 6. She was 77.
She was born Sept. 2, 1938, in Stamford, to Chester Warner and Doris Miller Graves. She enjoyed singing soprano at Stamford High School and at the churches she attended. She was a professional member of the past madrigal singers with the Les Chanteurs of Connecticut. She was on the vestry and alter guild of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in King, N.C.; a volunteer at King Outreach Ministry, and for several years, a member of the King Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Cherie Ann Hartmann of Connecticut; and a son, John William (Janet) Hartmann of King, N.C.; and granddaughters, Kathryn, Jessica and Byranna Hartmann.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, John William Hartmann II; and a brother, Warner Miller Graves.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Slate Funeral Home, 132 E. Dalton Road, King, N.C. The family will receive friends following the service.
