STAMFORD, Conn. – Jeffrey Robert Nadro Sr, 64, a longtime resident of Stamford, died of cancer, Saturday, Aug. 22, at Stamford Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1951, to Katherine Syring Nadro and Stanley Nadro, Nadro moved to Norwalk as a child but returned to Stamford for the past 39 years, where he raised his seven children and built his business, Nadro Plumbing and Heating, .

He was an avid fisherman, gun hobbyist and lover of nature. As a plumber who apprenticed as a young teen, he took his skills and served in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War.

He later worked for Meehan Plumbing and Heating before opening his own business in 1992. As a longtime Stamford resident, he was a member at the Halloween Yacht Club and the Cos Cob Rifle and Revolver Club. He took great joy in spending his weekends on his boat both at Lake Ontario and recently in Long Island Sound.

He is survived by his seven children, Sara Mathews Dixon, Lauren Forker, Jena Nadro, Jeffrey Nadro II, Mallory Nadro, Carly Nadro, David Nadro; sons-in-law Jon Forker and Jarah Mathews Dixon; seven grandsons; two sisters and two brothers-in-law; two brothers; his former wife, Michelina Fiori; and his companion.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 4-8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Richards Ave., Norwalk, Connecticut.
