Elizabeth Veronica Laychak, 85, Formerly Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Elizabeth Veronica Laychak, 85, of Orlando, Florida, died Sunday, July 5 at Stamford Hospital.

Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, on June 16, 1930, she was the only child to the late Louis and Barbara Flaherty Wellner. She was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, and graduated from Greenwich High School, class of 1948. She lived many years in Greenwich and Stamford, Connecticut, before moving to Florida.

She is survived by her six children, Gene Laychak (Linda) of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; Pamela Saccol (David) of Stamford; Lisa Jetmore (James) of Orlando; Kathleen Laychak of Waltham, Massachusetts; Robert Laychak (Joan) of Hampton, Virginia; and Allen Laychak of Denver, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Eugene Laychak, in 2004.

Family and friends may call Thursday, July 9 from 4-8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.  A funeral procession will leave from the funeral home Friday, July 10 at 9:20 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Basilica of the National Shrine, Mary Queen of the Universe, 8300 Vineland Ave., Orlando, FL 3282.
