STAMFORD, Conn. – Darlene Joan Deicke, 80, of Stamford, died Monday, June 1, after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 27, 1935, in West Allis, Wis., to Edward and Nora Jache Zephirin.
She enjoyed line dancing, being a member of The Red Hat Lady Society and going on trips with AARP.
Before retiring, she worked for the family business, Deicke Tent, and in later years worked at Public Storage, and General and National Re.
She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Wesley, in February 2008.
She is survived by her son, Gerald (Jerry) Deicke and his wife, Deona, of Fairfield; daughter, Joy Westerfield and her husband, David, of Danbury; a brother and his wife of Wisconsin; a sister-in-law of Stamford; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be celebrated Friday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service. The Rev. Duane C. Pederson of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
