Courtland 'Jack' Prowse, 82, Stamford Bank Officer

STAMFORD, Conn. – Courtland John "Jack" Prowse of Stamford died July 7. He was 82. 

Born May 30, 1930, in Dalton, Mass., he was the son of Courtland P. and Helen C. Prowse. He graduated from Dalton High School and attended the University of Massachusetts. 

Prowse served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his service, he worked as a district executive for local Boy Scout councils in Holyoke, Springfield, Worcester and Stoneham, Mass., as well as in Stamford. 

He worked as an assistant vice president for the Fidelity Trust Co. and a personal banking officer for Connecticut National Bank. 

Prowse is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lorraine C. Lombardi Prowse; a sister, Marilyn E. Trethewy, of Plainville, Mass.; a brother-in-law, Joseph A. Lombardi; a sister-in-law, Doris A. Horan, of Stamford; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Roberta Evans; a brother, Kenneth W. Prowse; a sister-in-law, Jeanne A. Prowse; and his stepmother, Margaret A. Prowse. 

The family will receive friends for a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford. Burial will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
