Bridgeport resident Alvin Robertson, 56, pleaded guilty in Bridgeport district court to one count of bank robbery and admitted that he committed a total of three bank robberies and two Subways throughout the state last year.
On May 20 last year, Robertson admitted to robbing the Subway on Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield, brandishing a knife and stating “give me all your money or I will kill you,” to the clerk.
On July 22, Robertson targeted the Subway on Monroe Turnpike in Monroe, threatening an employee and stating that he had a gun.
U.S. Attorney John Durham said that last year, Robertson also robbed a People’s United Bank branch in Monroe on Aug. 29; a branch in Watertown on Sept. 21 and a third location on Farmington Avenue in Berlin on Sept. 25.
Robertson has been detained since his arrest last year on Sept. 27 following a multi-agency investigation between the FBI, Berlin Police Department and Connecticut Intelligence Center, which identified him as a suspect.
Durham noted that Robertson has previous federal and state bank robbery convictions. When he is sentenced, Robertson faces a maximum term of up to 20 years in prison. No sentencing date has been scheduled.
