Garland Creighton Sr., WWII Army Vet

Services for Garland Neal Creighton Sr., a World War II veteran and longtime Stamford resident, will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, in Richmond, Va. Creighton died Sept. 30 in Richmond, where he moved three years ago.

Creighton served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. John's Lodge 14 and also served as Connecticut Grand Lodge officer. He was an active member of Union Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Creighton was married to his wife, Fredricka Sanders Creighton, for 63 years. She survives him, along with daughter Joyce (Arthur) Bolden and son Garland Jr. (Gwendolyn) of Richmond; and a niece, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. The service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith and Family Church, 7900 Walmsley Blvd., Richmond. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or via its website.
