Cecilia Gillan, Worked at Pitney Bowes

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday for longtime Stamford resident Cecilia Rose Gillan at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic St. Gillan died Jan. 26 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport.

Gillan lived all of her life in Stamford before moving in with her daughter shortly before her death.

She attended Stamford schools and was a member of St. John the Evangelist. Her community activities included Girl Scouts, based at the parish school. Her employers included Pitney Bowes, where she worked in the accounts payable department.

Her husband, Frederick, whom she married in 1941, died in 1957. She also was predeceased by five sisters, including a twin, and three brothers.

Survivors include son Frederick of Stamford; daughter Cecilia and husband, Alfred; sister Gloria; and a grandson and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass on Monday will be followed by burial in St. John Roman Cemetery, Darien. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford, CT 06901.
