NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan resident and recent college graduate Danielle Martin’s future is off to a busy start, and she is looking for help to get her to her next endeavor – traveling to Tanzania to educate underprivileged orphans.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut in Stamford with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in May, Martin was invited by Anne Wells, founder of Unite Africa, to travel to Tanzania in early August and provide educational assessments to children at St. Joseph’s orphanage.

Martin has worked for the past three years as a developmental specialist for Connec-to-Talk, providing one-on-one applied behavior analysis (behavioral) therapy to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Now she wants to use her work skills and education to help the children of Tanzania.

Funds will go toward the following:

  • Airfare
  • Visas
  • Vaccinations
  • Transportation
  • Food
  • Supplies that will ensure Martin’s safety and health

“My goal is to provide these orphans with a future, enhance their academic education so they can be independent, help them developmentally and give them the support they need to succeed even though they were abandoned,” said Martin on her GoFundMe page.

Martin will continue her studies this fall at Russell Sage College when she begins working toward her master’s degree in applied behavior analysis and autism.
