Networking Event Hits the Right Spots

Massage therapist Jade Ramos gently manipulated her hands and forearms over her client's back, shoulders and neck. Skillfully moving right and left, out to the periphery and in to the center, she soothed muscles that had been tense much of the day. For subject Jade LaBella, it was "excellent."

"I love massages. They make me more relaxed," said LaBella.

"It's usually the neck and shoulders," said Ramos about primary client concerns. "A lot of people do desk work, and that adds to neck pain."

Ramos and fellow Agora Spa massage therapist Mark Cuventas were offering free massages as one of the donated amenities at the 2nd Annual Party on the Plaza at Stamford Town Center on Tuesday evening. Mingling, music, munching – and massages – were all part of the festive event presented by the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by www.thedailystamford.com.

Food vendors served samples ranging from pizza to mini sandwiches to salad, and Stamford band Sound City offered a lively aural backdrop. The party was meant to foster business relationships, according to chamber President and CEO John P. Condlin, and according those attending, it met its goal.

"Food, massages, I'm enjoying it," said LaBella. "Who wouldn't?"

"Everyone seems to be in a good mood and having fun," said Jennifer Parker, branch manager for Adecco, a staffing company.

Robert J. Palermo, divisional president of the newly opened First Stamford Bank, and Linda West, the bank's senior vice president, said they enjoyed engaging with their new business neighbors. Michael Kristof, owner of Insurance Solutions, was positioned at a table touting the benefits of chamber membership. Nearby, Gloria Tenofsky of the www.thedailystamford.com and its affiliates fielded questions about the new online newspaper.

"There's been a lot of enthusiasm from the people at the party," said Tenofsky. "Several were already familiar with us."
