He started in Ridgewood, taught college in Japan and now ranks in Alaskan politics.

Wielechowski, a Democratic member of the Alaska Senate since 2006, was born in Ridgewood to a Polish-American family. He attended Seton Hall University earning a bachelor's degree in both business management and finance, then went to Seton Hall University School of Law earning his law degree in 1992, according to wikipedia.com.

Opportunities took him to Japan, where he was on the faculty at Hokkaido University Faculty of Law, Sapporo, Japan, his biography says.

A move to Anchorage changed his career. He became a volunteer with the Northeast Community Council and later a commissioner on the Anchorage Planning and Zoning Commission, according to Wikipedia.

He served in 2003 on the Mayor’s Task Force on Obesity and Health, as well as on the Anchorage School District Budget Review Team. He also served on the mayoral transition team.

In the 2015-16 legislative session, Wielechowski serves as a member of the following standing committees: Judiciary, Resources and State Affairs. He also serves on the Special Committee on Federal Overreach, the Joint Committee on Armed Services, his biography says.
