The Stamford resident was named a "2016 Innovative Chef" by the Greenwich Wine + Food Festival and says she's truly humbled and grateful to her staff at MSC. Selden says "it's been a whopper of a year" as she was also named Chef of the Year by the International Caterers Association.

The first-time nominee says she gets her cooking inspiration from reading a lot of food, travel and fashion magazines, cookbooks and lifestyle blogs. She also loves following different chefs on Instagram to see what they are up to. "I go to new restaurants locally and love to eat my way through vacations," she added.

"In addition to all of this, I'm truly inspired by our clients as we take the time to get to know them and listen (most important) to what they love and that’s when we get to it in the kitchen and start creating cool things for them so that their menus reflect them."

As for what she'll be cooking come September when the Festival begins? (It runs Sept. 23 to 24.) Expect her “Dizzy” Tuna Poke.

When it comes to ingredients, she loves playing with beets, avocado, tuna and cauliflower.

Selden said Fairfield County residents might be surprised to know that while MSC may have its favorite signature menu items, she and her team customize every menu for every event. "That’s crazy catering madness especially when we're in our busy season with a minimum of 30 events a week, all with different menus," she said. "But at the same time, that’s what I love most about my job as we are constantly doing research and development in our kitchen to create new and exciting things for our clients."
