STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Charity Chili Cookoff is seeking contestants for its eighth annual event.
The contest is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road. The event is part of the annual Touch A Truck event at the center and will benefit the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.
While most of the competitors are amateurs, professional/restaurant chefs also can compete.
Contestants must provide enough chili to serve a taste to about 300 members of the public (6 to 8 gallons based on past years is recommended) and a way to keep it warm. The contest will provide spoons, napkins, tasting cups, and a five-foot banquet table for each contestant to decorate as they wish.
The top three vote-getters win a trophy and a cash prize ($100, $75 and $50, respectively).
If you are interested in competing, please contact Joe Gonzalez at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Oct. 1 as limited contestant spots are available.
