The event is in its 21st year and includes a 5K and 10K run along with a 5K walk, all of which begin and end in Stamford’s Columbus Park. More than 5,000 people are expected to participate this year, with all funds raised directly supporting the programs and services provided to patients and their families at the Bennett Cancer Center throughout the year.
Last year, $917,000 was raised during the event.
“This is the signature event for our Hope in Motion campaign and it really brings the community together for a beautiful day of strength and hope,” said Elizabeth Manfredo, director of the Bennett Cancer Center. “The unique programs we can provide because of the generous support from our friends across the region are invaluable to our patients and their healing process.”
For more than two decades, the Bennett Cancer Center has offered hope and healing to area cancer patients, combining the strength of technology and advanced clinical knowledge to provide expert, patient-centered care.
In addition to treatment, the Cancer Center offers a wide range of supportive care options, including an integrative medicine program; individual, family and group counseling; exercise programs; nutritional counseling; and survivorship programs to enhance the natural healing capacities of the body and mind. All of these programs and services are made possible at no charge to patients with funds raised from Hope in Motion and the annual Walk & Run event.
Individuals can donate and/or register to walk or run or form a team at www.hopeinmotion.org.
