STAMFORD, Conn. — Turn of River Middle School’s Governance Council will host an Internet safety panel from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school, 117 Vine Road, Stamford.
The panel will include TV journalist Chris Hansen, Stamford Police Sgt. Joe Kennedy and Richard J. Colangelo Jr., the state’s attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk.
The topic of the panel will be "Parents’ Internet Safety Panel: Are You Doing Enough to Protect Your Kids?"
Hansen recently conducted a sting investigation in Fairfield on sexual predators who target children.
Panel members will provide real-life stories of Internet crimes and attempted crimes against children happening locally, as well as nationally. They also will give concrete tips on how to keep your children safe on the Web, including social media, Web browsing and Internet gaming. A short Q&A will follow the discussion.
The event is for parents and guardians only. At the same time, a program related to social media will be held for children in the school’s media center.
