STAMFORD, CONN. -- Is there nothing more comforting at the end of a long day than curling up with a good novel?
Yes, say the folks at the Friends Book Store in Stamford: Curling up with a discounted cookbook and a box of homemade chocolates.
The organization is pairing its annual 50 percent off gardening and cookbook sale with free samples of goodies from Pilar Artisanal Chocolates.
The book and chocolate event is set for 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the shop at The Ferguson Library, DiMattia Building, 96 Broad St., One Public Library Place.
Pilar McClave recently relaunched her chocolate, espresso and juice bar at 172 Bedford St. in the city’s business district after an absence of nearly three years.
The soft opening was in late July, and its new menu includes smoothies and tropical shakes.
The book shop can be reached by calling (203) 351-8277.
