STAMFORD, Conn. -- Jill Hummel, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut, will be honored at the 14th Annual Women’s Business Development Council Business breakfast Friday, Oct. 23.
The event is at 7:30 a.m. at the Stamford Hilton, 1 First Stamford Place.
More than 650 business leaders from across the state are expected to attend and will hear experts discuss the topic of "Supplier Diversity Drives Your Bottom Line," according to a press release.
“WBDC is honoring Ms. Hummel for her staunch commitment to fostering the advancement of women," said Fran Pastore, president and CEO of the Women’s Business Development Council. "Throughout her career, including during her tenure at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, she has promoted the ideals of the WBDC by placing women of accomplishment in leadership positions.”
This year’s breakfast panel discussion will focus on how companies focused on diversifying suppliers generated a 133 percent greater return on procurement investments than the typical business, reported the Wall Street Journal.
The Women's Business Development Council is Connecticut’s leading organization championing female entrepreneurship and women’s economic stability, according to a press release. In the past year, the council's clients have launched or expanded 395 new businesses and maintained or added close to 900 jobs in the state, resulting in $5 million in additional tax revenue to Connecticut’s economy, according to a press release.
