The first tropical storm to head for the state this year, Hermine may bring heavy rain and strong winds, in addition to coastal flooding if it continues on its current track and retains its strength once it is out over open waters.

The current forecast calls for a 50 percent of scattered showers Thursday, mainly before noon, then becoming partly cloudy with highs near 77 degrees.

Friday calls for sunny skies with a high near 78 degrees and a low near 57 overnight. The rain from Hermine begins to move into the area Saturday night with a 20 percent of rain.

Residents will see the most effects from the storm on Sunday with rain likely at 60 percent chance during the day, and a 50 percent chance on Sunday night.

Labor Day is forecast to be mostly cloudy as the storm moves out of the area.

Residents should keep track of the storm's movement in order to be prepared.
