An officer from the Darien Police Department on patrol at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 spotted two people involved in an altercation at the red light at the bottom of the I-95 southbound exit 11 ramp.

According to police, the officer pulled over the Jeep and learned that the driver, Darien resident Casey Boatright, 40, had been in a verbal argument with a passenger. While speaking with Boatright, the officer said that both occupants appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The officer noted that Boatright allegedly had the odor of alcohol on her breath, her eyes were glassy and “she acted as if in a daze.” She denied drinking, but was unsteady on her feet when prompted to leave her vehicle. She then proceeded to fail multiple field sobriety tests.

Boatright was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a license, failure to renew motor vehicle registration and cited for improper exiting of a highway. Following her processing, Boatright was released on a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Jan. 31.
