WESTPORT, Conn. — Two Bridgeport men who were already facing an astonishing number of burglary and theft charges in various towns have been slapped with more charges in two deli break-ins in Westport, police said.

Roman Nieves and Keron Nixon were charged Wednesday in the pair of burglaries back on Dec. 17.

Nieves, 37, of 181 Sherwood Ave., Bridgeport, has 15 other court files that are currently active in courts in Derby, Milford, Bridgeport and Stamford.

Nixon, 34, of 1016 Stratford Ave., Bridgeport, has 11 other court files spread over the same courts.

The most recent charges, which have added a new court for them to visit in Norwalk, involve the attempted break-in at Gaetano's Deli at 1713 Post Road E. on Dec. 17, police said.

Officers went to the deli after an alarm activated at 1 a.m. Police found pry marks on the door, but no entry was gained.

Later that day at 7:15 a.m., officers were called to a break-in at the Subway restaurant at 940 Post Road E., police said.

It had been broken into overnight and a cash drawer with $400 in cash was missing, police said. A cinder block was used to smash the rear glass door to gain entry, police said.

Detective Phil Restieri followed up with police in Seymour, Stratford, Ansonia and Milford, where the same type of burglaries had occurred. He discovered that Nieves and Nixon had confessed to smash-and-grab burglaries in those towns.

Restieri interviewed the two men, who said that they had used a crow bar on the front door of Geatano's but fled when the alarm went off, police said.

Each was charged with two counts each of third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree conspiracy to commit criminal mischief. Each was held on $50,000 bond in the Westport cases.
