BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A Bridgeport man, who was charged in a 2009 robbery and shooting that left his victim paralyzed, has now pleaded guilty to manslaughter, according to a report from the Connecticut Post.

The victim, Dann Rauso of Shelton, had just walked out of a barber shop in Bridgeport when he was confronted by Eric Brown and Tyrone Grant, who demanded money, the Post said.

Shot once in the struggle and left a quadriplegic, Rauso became sicker and sicker until he finally died six years later, the Post reported.

The original charges of first-degree assault and robbery against Brown were updated to manslaughter reflect Rauso's death, the Post said.

Just before his trial was to begin, the 28-year-old pleaded guilty in Superior Court to first-degree manslaughter with a firearm and first-degree robbery and faces 10 years behind bars when he is sentenced in March, The Post said.
