Teresa Jennings, 56, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 7, after Newtown Police received a report of a woman sitting in a car that appeared to have been in a crash, said Newtown Police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Jennings sitting in a gray 2001 Volvo station wagon with fluids in the roadway.

Bahamonde said that following an investigation, police determined that Jennings had driven off the roadway in Redding and hit a large rock, which disabled her vehicle.

She then continued driving and traveled down Poverty Hollow Road before stopping on Flat Swamp Road, he said.

Jennings was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI, Bahamonde said.

She was released on a $500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Nov. 21.
