Blocked Driveway Leads To Shelton Drug Arrests

SHELTON, Conn. -- An illegally parked work van led to two Shelton men being charged with drug possession after an undercover Shelton detective observed their transaction on Tuesday, Aug. 9, police said.

According to police, the undercover detective watched as Joshua Sanchez, 25, who was wanted on several warrants, was attempting to pull out of an apartment complex parking lot. However, the driveway was blocked by a work van. Sanchez jumped out of his vehicle and began walking down the street, as if he was looking for the owner of the van, police said. 

Instead, he stopped to speak with another man in a parked car, identified as Justin Geffert, 26, police said. The two talked for a minute and as Sanchez walked back to his car he was stopped by officers on the warrant charge and taken into custody, according to police. 

After further investigation, officers determined Geffert had just purchased heroin and crack cocaine from Sanchez, according to police. Officers then searched the car Sanchez's car and found heroin and crack cocaine, police said.

Sanchez was charged with illegal possession and iIllegal possession with intent to sell. Sanchez posted a $10,000 bond and was turned over to Ansonia Police Department on the outstanding warrant charges, police said. 

Geffert was charged with Illegal possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Geffert was placed on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, police said. 

The owner of the illegally parked work van was found in a local business and told to move the vehicle.
