A hunt is on for two Hispanic men who allegedly attacked a woman during an attempted carjacking in Fairfield County.

It happened in Shelton around 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Mont's Mart at 198 Leavenworth Road in Shelton.

During the incident, the two men attempted to steal a parked Nissan Murano. One of the men got in the parked SUV but could not drive away.

The owner of the SUV, a 37-year-old woman, came out of the store and confronted the man.

A struggle ensued and the woman threw a coffee she just purchased in his face, said Det. Richard Bango, of the Shelton Police.

The man threw the woman to the ground and began to choke her. He then got into the passenger side of a dark Mercedes CLA and fled, said Bango.

The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is encouraged to contact the Shelton Police Department at 203-924-1544.
