Witnesses Wanted: Woman Killed In Route 8 Shelton Crash

Connecticut State Police are asking for witnesses to a fatal crash that killed a Bridgeport woman to come forward.

The crash took place on Route 8 in Shelton around 12:15 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18.

During the crash, a 2008 BMW was traveling in the right lane of two on Route 8 northbound just, just north of the Exit 13 ramp when it came upon a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee parked between the right lane and the right shoulder, state police said.

For reasons unknown, the driver of the Jeep exited the vehicle and was in the right lane of travel, when the BMW collided with the Jeep and then hit the driver, identified as Joan Marie Forgas, age 33, of Bridgeport, state police said.

Police said the force of the impact send Forgas flying over the highway, coming to rest on the side of the highway.

The BMW stopped on the right shoulder, police said.

Forgas was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW was not injured.
