Shelton Nursing Home Fined For Patient Injury

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Nursing homes in Shelton, Norwalk and Danbury are facing thousands in fines after state officials found residents in each home had suffered injuries, according to the Connecticut Post.

Three nursing homes in Shelton, Norwalk and Danbury have been fined by the state Department of Public Health in connection with injuries suffered by residents.

In Shelton, the Bishop Wicke Health & Rehabilitation Center was fined $2,160 by the Department of Public Health in connection with a resident who suffered an inoperable brain bleed after a fall on Oct. 24, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Autumn Lake Healthcare home in Norwalk also was fined after three residents developed blisters or pressure sores, according to the Connecticut Post, which reported that fines in connection with incidents on Oct. 12, Feb. 16 and March 3 totaled $2,140.

The Danbury home, the Western Rehabilitation Care Center, was fined $1,835 in connection with a resident fall on Aug. 26, according to the Connecticut Post. The patient suffered cuts on the lips, according to the Connecticut Post.
